The Aitbekova Group opens in August 2025! 

We aim to develop chemical conversion processes that outperform traditional approaches by synergistically combining thermochemical and photochemical effects. Our approach spans multiple scales, from developing catalytic materials at the nanoscale to engineering reactors at the macroscale. Areas of interest include hydrocarbon chemistry, selective oxidations, and biomass valorization. Equipped with a toolkit of catalyst design and synthesis, in-situ/operando characterization, microkinetic modeling, and reactor engineering, we strive to bring innovations to the chemical industry.
